Dona Onesta was born about one year and a half ago and is the last stage of the long local history in the heart of Venice., born about 60 years ago, first as bacaro and then finally as a restaurant. The love of cooking, the link to the native land and the strong spirit of a unit family are the perfect input to create an innovative activity and of course “Honest”.
The knowledge of the territory and of this city full of mysteries, but potentialities, enables staff of Dona Onesta to always select the best products offered by the region: It is easy, therefore, to see that the protagonist in the kitchen will be the fish in all its varieties, but there is no shortage of dishes based on meat and vegetables.
Authentic Italian Cuisine
The Italian tradition, but particularly Venetian one, plays a key role in the restaurant: you will find one of the best “Venetian livers” of the area or the Venetian dish par excellence based on sardines and scampi. Must not fail then the famous cicchetti in several different ways: with marinated anchovies, cod fish, Norway lobster grilled calamari with tomatoes and much more. The added value of these dishes is undoubtedly “express kitchen”, which gives a touch and authenticity to the recipes.
Our Selection of Wine
Even our modest winery has the same feature of the kitchen: We select the best wines including white, red, rose and Prosecco from Veneto to allow our customers to enjoy our land in all its gastronomic aspects.
The compromise between good food and moderate prices, ranging between 20 and 40 Euros, make our restaurant a meeting point between locals and international customers, encouraged also by curiosity to enjoy a good glass of wine on our charming outdoor terrace, overlooking the small canal behind Campo dei Frari, one of the few in Italy.
